The inn is in a beautiful rural setting but only a matter of minutes from Halifax and other major Yorkshire towns. The owners have retained a wonderful olde worlde charm without being kitch, and the food is absolutely wonderful. The staff are incredibly helpful wthout being intrusive. I don't think there is anything more you could expect of a stay in the countryside.

I appreciated my thoroughly enjoyable stay for a quick night away. The superior double room was brand new with a glass of vino, relaxed seating. The location was magnificent - so close to social areas, the restaurant and beer garden, and a valley with beck, trees, and a woodland walk. The food in the dining room was good and fabulous.

A summer evening in July and the room was cold. However, the electric heater came in very handy!

Charming rooms, each with unique decorations. Tucked away in a quiet valley for a secluded vibe 🌳.

Friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food and drink (especially the real ales) on offer. Also, free wi-fi, which ought to be standard in hotels nowadays but all too often isn't.
My room (no, 6) didn't really have a view out but I don't see what can be done about that given the age and shape of the building. It wasn't a major issue for me as I didn't spend that much time in the room.
